Ensuring every Pregnancy Undergoes a Safe Delivery

SHI is a youth-led, non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to providing access to basic maternal and child healthcare services in underserved communities, and ensuring every pregnancy undergoes a safe delivery devoid of common complications. We achieve this through education, training, upskilling and empowerment of frontline rural healthcare providers and other involved stakeholders.

What We DO

About Safer Hands Initiative

SAFER HANDS is an initiative which started up in August 2017 – after a time lined assessment and review of our maternal and child health system in Nigeria – aimed at reducing the high level of maternal and child deaths associated with child-birth in sub-sahara Africa, in which Nigeria is one of the major contributors.
The social enterprise was created out of the dire need to ensure positive changes and achieve sustainable impacts that would potentiate into attaining a healthy sustainable future, particularly in areas with current deficits in providing and achieving basic Universal health coverage in Nigeria.

3rd SHI Maternal Health Summit, 2023

In commemoration of the 2023 International Day of Maternal Health and Rights, we had our SHI Maternal Health Summit 2023 in collaboration with Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) Lagos and MWAN National Young Doctors Forum.
